초 록 : This study examined the mediating roles of government and civil society organizations (CSOs) in the relationship between perceived seriousness of public conflicts at the present time and the prospect of public conflicts in the future. Using the data from the national public opinion survey (N=3020), the hypothesized model of this study was tested. The results found that perceived seriousness of current public conflicts had a negative effect on both perceived capacities of government and CSOs. Second, both perceived capacities of government and CSOs had a positive effect on the prospect of public conflicts. Third, both perceived capacities of government and CSOs significantly mediated the effect of perceived seriousness of current public conflicts on the prospect of public conflicts in the future. The findings of this study were discussed in terms of the roles of government and CSOs in resolving public conflicts.
